4 Tips For a Successful Online Insurance Quote

Most of us today do our research for tons of things online, and this includes shopping for auto and home Insurance. You can easily get a quote online these days with a few simple clicks of your mouse.

Insurance companies have become aware of how much the Internet has changed the way people shop today, and have adjusted to this by setting up websites that will guide you in the right direction in securing a new policy. Before you spend your time trying to get a quote online, I thought I’d share a few tips that will help you solidify an accurate quote.

1. Know Your Terminology

Having the right policy means knowing what coverages would suit you the best. This might require some effort on your part to learn some terminology and ultimately you’ll have a better understanding of what you’re buying than 90% of the population. If you’re smart and want someone to do the work for you, you’re your broker and have him or her spend 5 minutes explaining the coverages to you. The information you get will be help clear any confusion you may have in regards to choosing the right coverages for yourself and making sure that you know what’s covered and what’s not covered.

2. Input The Correct Information

When getting an auto insurance quote online you’ll have to enter some information into an online form, in order to get your quote started. Companies will need information such as your age, address, and what type of vehicle you’re driving. Demographics are important to the carrier when setting rates, so where you live is a big factor. Busier traffic areas usually mean higher premiums. Small rural towns usually have smaller premiums because there’s less chance of cars crashing into each other. Bottom line here is that the more accurate the info is, the more accurate your quote will be.

3. Get Your Questions Answered

Once you have quotes from several carriers, talk to a live broker to get any questions you have answered. There is no such thing as a stupid question, and none of your questions should be left unanswered. Remember Brokers work FOR you and are there to serve you.

4. Don’t Skimp on Service

Customer service is another big element when selecting a home or auto insurance carrier. It’s always a good idea to know how their claims are handled, and if they have a customer service number that is available 24 hours per day.

Don't be afraid to purchase your auto insurance online, just remember to do good research and have all the information you need to make an informed decision. And if it becomes overwhelming, just give me a call and I’ll make sure the process is as smooth as eggs!
