Some ask this question because it does seem somewhat skeptical on the surface that a diet from a fast food company would lead to weight loss. But, it’s possible to lose weight with this diet and comes at a surprise to many people.
Namely, it’s because the diet is a rather a simple one that follows a basic, common sense approach to losing weight. How so? Well, let’s look at the diet a little closer and reveal how its benefits are made up.
What’s Included…
At the core of this concept is the Fresco menu items on Taco Bell’s menu of items offered. The Fresco menu mainly involves healthier items on the menu that only include roughly 9 grams of fat per item.
This new Taco Bell Diet has gained a level of fame thanks to a series of commercials featuring a spokeswoman by the name of Christine Dougherty. She had lost around 54lbs of excess weight thanks to purchasing items on the Fresco section of Taco Bell’s menu. From her success, many have attempted to duplicate it by selecting from the items on the Drive-Thru Diet selection.
The Menu…
This selection remains a very limited one as there are only 7 items on it. Again, these 7 items are very low in fat and this makes the burritos and tacos on this selection to be considered good choices for those looking to drop weight.
Here is a fact about nutrition: the bulk of the calories in food items come from refined sugars and saturated fats. When you select from the foods on the Drive-Thru Diet, you are getting very little fat and virtually no refined sugars.
That means you will not be ingesting much in terms of calories. Because of that, the ability to drop weight will be likely provided you keep your overall eating in a calorie deficit level and, hopefully, expand these deficits through working out.
How She Did It…
Dougherty’s daily eating regimen saw a reduction in calories of 500 per day. Since 3500 calories equals one pound of body fat, reducing 500 calories from one’s diet per day will decrease 1 pound of fat per week. Exercising will increase this daily calorie reduction which would further expand your weight loss results.
And exercise would also help your metabolism speed up which means even further potential weight loss.
So, don’t try to rely on the Taco Bell Drive-Thru diet alone to lose weight. Be sure to get some exercise time and use the strategy of lowering your daily caloric intake while working out!
In terms of the nutritional aspects of this diet, you would be eating a lot of lettuce which is known for its antioxidant benefits. Selecting chicken over red meat in the tacos would be another huge plus in terms of boosting nutritional value.
Just be sure to stay away from condiments as they’re loaded with sugars and excess calories made from refined sugars.
Is the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet a perfect one? No, it’s pretty far removed from perfect but you can lose weight on it if you’re sure to keep your calorie intake low and workout daily.
