The 3 Body Types – Which One Are you?

It’s a given that the older you get the more your body begins to change. Don’t get me wrong, some of the changes can be good, but for the most part they’re usually not.

So how do you cope with a body thats constantly changing?

When it comes down to it your body type is a big factor in regards to seeing results. Your body type is basically determined by genetics and starts to change after puberty. For the most part, finding out what your body type is pretty easy, yet many women and fitness professionals, don’t recognize body types or understand the connection between body type on body composition and weight gain and loss.

There are three basic body types. Keep in mind that it is possible to be a mix of each type.

Ectomorph: This body type is tall and slim with long arms and legs. With this body type you may have difficulty gaining weight and building muscle. Ballet dancers, models, and long-distance runners tend to have the ectomorph body type.

Mesomorph: This body type is shorter and muscular and has stocky arms and legs. With this body type you are strong and gain muscle mass when you do strength training. You may have difficulty losing weight. Mesomorph body types usually excel at power sports, such as soccer, softball, and sprinting events in track and field.

Endomorph: This body type carries more body fat. The endomorph body type can be apple shaped or pear shaped. Endomorph body types excel at distance swimming, field events, and weightlifting.

Do you know what body type you are?

Hello I am a 57 year old woman, I use to be able to drop 10 lbs with no problem but its gets harder. I am heavy around the hips thighs and legs and I walk at least 3 times a week but that is not helping its seems the parts gained. HELP! HELP!

      Hi agray061,

walkign is great but you need to bump up the intensity a bit.

you can try cycling (even on a stationary bike) to help tone/firm your hip area, drop a few pounds and work your cardio at the same time.

Also here are some exercises that will help you out with those specific areas.

a good way for girls to gain small amounts of weight that is also healthy is to consume lots of dairy..1 or 2 percent milk would be ideal..dairy products are very healthy and full of nutrients and protein for your body to build muscle. but also store small amounts of fat.try drinking a litre a day and some yogurt around 8 at night and u should see fair results in a month or so.
