Mir’s Monday Training Update #4

Well training with Mir is going great.  She’s seeing some fabulous changes to her body and most importantly strengthening her mindset.   Here’s her update for week 4 – it was quite a breakthrough!

mir4I can’t even think right now. I can’t seem to find the words I need to write down how excited and thrilled I am about today’s workout. Ladies, in all seriousness, I can’t even remember what I did today because all I can think about was running that same distance as I did the week before and knocking 14 seconds off.

I feel great! I feel on top of the world!

Let me tell you how this all started:

After a vigorous workout of upper body, Marci looks down at his watch and says “Ok Mir, it’s time for your run.” I come to the sidewalk where he’s standing and looking down at his watch. “Anytime you’re ready Mir” I stood there and stared down the street. “Ok, just give me a minute”

Four minutes and counting later…

I continued to stand there. “Ok, it’s a 4-6 second difference, I can do this. I can do this. I WILL do this.” As Marci continues to push me to start running, and I mean that literally, I got a little nervous. All I could think of was how terrible I would feel if I didn’t reach my goal. Well, I was tired of hearing Marci say “whenever you’re ready Mir” and feeling his hands on my back as he tries to push me to start moving…

So there I was, running like I had a 140 pound pit bull running after me. I pushed myself as I saw Marci getting closer and closer. I don’t know if I did that because I was determined to reach my goal or because I wanted to push him around a bit to show him how it feels.  Anyway, I ran as hard as I could and looked from Marci to his stop watch when I reached the end. He looked at his watch and covered it with his other hand.

Marci: “Are you sure you want to see this?”

Me: “Great, I didn’t even come close to what I was aiming for. I probably went over my time from last week.”

Marci: “32 seconds.”

Now I’m thinking that he’s lying to me to make me feel better. I mean, what kind of trainer would do that anyway? “WHAT?? ARE YOU SURE?” I scream.

He shows me the watch, and there it is, 32.36 seconds.

I high-fived Marci and could’ve kissed him, but considering him and my boyfriend Milkias are friends I didn’t think it would go over too well.

The greatest feeling in the world is achieving your goals and knowing you worked hard to get to that point. I think 32.36 seconds can be brought down to at least 30 seconds. Possibly my new challenge for next week? :-?

Remember ladies, set your mind, stay determined, and push yourself because YOU CAN DO IT!

My previous time: 46 seconds

My goal: 40 – 42 seconds

My time today: 32 seconds

Time difference: 14 seconds

Good job Mir! Strengthening your mind is tough, but once you get the mental toughness your workouts will get easier.
